Institution Development

MPI Kenya invests in value addition to the organization's support services that include infrastructure, human resources, finance and management, procurement, information delivery of the organization's primary activities. The organization further seeks to build synergy between its limited resources and capability for competitive advantage delivery of its current and future interventions. In this regard, the project seek to ensure high quality of her program, secure highly qualified and skilled personnel, conduct financial reserve and contingency planning and most importantly realistic goals and vision.

    Civic Engagement and Awareness

    MPI Kenya affirms that strategic research is the ultimate tool of capturing results with respect to defined organizational theories of change. Through these program leaders of local organizations, opinion shapers and prefects will be able to inspire other students to change expectations, perceptions and motivations towards universal human rights approach. Other civic actors are engaged in through training and capacity building on matters that directly or indirectly affect the community. In this regard, the program seek to build thematic networks, coalitions and or partnerships in Mathare and Nairobi to collectively protect the rights of communities and increasing the quality of democracy where citizens make important decisions on matters of their day to day business.

      This program recognizes the gains entranced in the constitution specifically the progressive Bill of Rights, Separation of Powers and devolution. The program seeks to address inequalities, levels of marginalization of communities to effectively participate in governance. Most importantly, is to open space for an enabling environment that promote the rule of law, human rights and democracy through the spirit of constitutionalism, civic engagement, citizen participation and access to justice for all groups.

        This is a program which is adding value to the work in progress, in reaching the girls in schools with proper interventions aimed at promoting their healthy choices. The program reaches girls in schools and Mathare Community with comprehensive Adolescent Sexuality Education which is context specific, age appropriate and has cultural relevance.

        1. Enable the adolescents understand and appreciate the process of adolescence.
        2. Increase the number of girls present in the school during their menstrual cycle.
        3. Reduce the pregnancy cases among adolescent females(13- to 17-year-olds).
        4. Reduce the number of new cases of HIV/AIDS diagnosed among adolescents and adults(13- to 19-year-olds).
        5. Enhance the communication and deliberation/negotiation skills of participants towards risky behaviour.
        6. Improve the knowledge, skills and attitude of the participants with regards to informed choices.
        7. Increase parent to child communication, hence making parents play a part of the adolescent health educator to their children.

        This is a think tank program focusing on children's rights through research, artwork, and advocacy. It's goals is to have children recognized as individuals with human rights, to build a collective to protect and defend children’s rights, and to seek justice for rights violations. MPI Kenya work towards these goals in a variety of areas including access to justice, age assessment, assisted reproduction, bodily integrity, counter-terrorism, civil and political rights, deprivation of liberty, children’s rights in the digital age, environment and Climate Change, sexual violence, MPI Kenya provides reports, data collection, research statistics, and more to help partner organizations and human rights activists support their advocacy and work towards children's rights. MPI Kenya also hosts an online art gallery representing and advocating for the rights and individuality of children.

          MPI Kenya mandate is to strengthen the capacities of Communities to manage conflict in non-violent, non-coercive ways by locals in their efforts to develop social and political cohesion. The organization is among the pioneer grassroot peace building organizations championing for peaceful community in a resource constrained setting. MPI prides itself in being Mathare, borne, Mathare initiated and Mathare owned. Having been consistently present on the ground since 2011, MPI has walked with the community, both state and non-state actors in the journey and peacebuilding and livelihoods. Due to its consistent presence within the communities, MPI enjoys strong relations with both the community and the government. Having implemented several programs with different donors and organizations, MPI has grown through the ranks to become a local partner of choice in Mathare.
