Activities of the organization are embedded on the following pillars:
- Supporting groups at risk: MPI Kenya places a high premium on vulnerable marginalized groups in the city whose needs are rarely addressed and are barely involved in decision-making. They include; People Living with Disabilities (PWD), the elderly, youth, women and street Families, migrants and refugees as well as IDPs.

- Support in human rights and institutional frameworks: MPI-Kenya is responsible in the formulation and legislation of policies; it acts as check and balances in the implementation of passed policies and human rights-based initiatives.
Ongoing Projects
At present, MPI-Kenya is running a project dubbed “The City of Choice for All” which is duly funded by The United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR). The overall goal of the project is to Promote inclusive and equitable livelihood development actions that addresses challenges of poverty, discrimination, exploitation and urban governance and safety practices affecting vulnerable communities including migrants, refugees and IDPs in Nairobi in order to empower them socially and economically. Through the project, MPI-Kenya has just concluded a baseline survey (unpublished) targeting most marginalized vulnerable groups residing in Mathare slums including migrants, refugees, IDPs, policy influencers and the general public.
